Flamingo festival is the festival of birds in which it mostly concentrate about the migrating birds. this is a gift for the bird lovers and also to know about the birds which are in the pulikat lake(salt lake in india) and it has the bird santuaries which is an extra feature of this festival.
This is organised by the government of Andhra Pradesh as a part of the tourism promotion incentives.This is held at the surroundings of the pulikat lake.

The festival was planned about a decade ago to attract tourists to the sanctuary from the state and neighbouring states. Stalls of various government departments and cultural prorgammes would be arranged at the junior college ground at Sullurpeta, Nellore dt Andhra pradesh during the festival. Seminars on bio-diversity, birds and protection of Pulicat lake would also be conducted. Boat rides will be arranged for the visitors at Bheemulavaripalem in Tada mandal.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srikanth, the district collector of Nellore said that the festival was being held every year to bring together the people and various Government departments in the task of preserving the Pulicat lake and surroundings. Arrival of a wide variety of migratory birds always held a special charm at Pulicat.
In Andhra Pradesh, the various ministry departments like the Tourism, Animal Husbandry and Agriculture put up their stalls featuring their respective activities and the people all over the Andhra Pradesh will be coming and taking a view of this festival. this is not only for the people in the state. It is a eye catching one for the tourists .The venue at Sullurupeta Boys High School was decorated for the festival.
The authorities made special arrangements for the facility of visitors on the SHAR road for seeing the migratory birds in the lake. People are also thronging the Nelapattu bird sanctuary at DV Satram in the vicinity of Sullurupeta.
The administration has been organising the festival every year to mark the arrival of thousands of migratory birds, especially flamingos, to Nelapattu Birds sanctuary, widely known as their winter home.
Bird watchers and tourists throng the Sanctuary and Pulicat lake to watch flamingos hunt fish during the daytime.
Seminars on bio-diversity, birds and protection of Pulicat lake would also be conducted.
It can be a veru good tourism spot for having a look at the migratory flamingo birds at "Nelapattu Bird Santuary" which is their winter home.
